By e-mail and by snail mail, we heard from so many newspaper carriers (of course); former car hops; soda jerks; button girls; a grave digger; gas station attendants … even the Easter Bunny (for J.C. Penney). Our youngest worker was just 7 years old, counting ration tokens in World War II (kids these days, do they work as hard?).
